Alternate Seat of Government
Town/Village of Castile, New York
Due to the fire within the Town/Village of Castile on October 2, 2012, it has been necessary to relocate the Town/Village of Castile Government offices to an “Alternate Seat of Government” at the Bank of Castile, 50 North Main Street, Castile, NY14427. All Town/Village Board Meetings and The Town Justice Court will be held at the Castile Fire Department located at 37 North Main Street, Castile, NY 14427. The Alternate Seat of Government was established by Supervisor Stephen Tarbell and Mayor Keith Granger on 10/2/2012 in response to the complete loss caused to the Town/Village offices. The Bank of Castile and the Castile Fire Department will function as the Alternate Seat of Government until such time as the original seat of government can be fully restored and made available for safe use.
The Supervisor and Mayor have taken this extraordinary action in accordance with The State of Emergency Declaration for the Town/Village of Castile Government which have convened at the Alternate Seat of Government to continue their respective functions. Every attempt is being made to reduce the impacts of this temporary relocation on critical services with the Town/Village residents. Although the location of the Town/Village of Castile Government has temporarily changed, it will still continue to function as required by law. Please be advised at this time that the public will not be allowed entrance to the original Seat of Government located at 51-53 North Main Street, Castile, NY 14427. Your cooperation, patience and understanding are appreciated during this difficult period as we work as quickly as possible to restore the Town/Village’s legally and Constitutionally-mandated functions. ATTENTION WYOMING COUNTY VETERANS & WYOMING COUNTY BUSINESS OWNERS
We are proud to announce that we are sponsoring the “RETURN THE F.A.V.O.R” Discount Program that honors our Wyoming County Veterans as well as many of our local merchants. Veterans that record their Honorable Discharge DD214’s at the Wyoming County Clerk’s Office will be issued a Wyoming County Veteran ID card. This Veteran’s ID card enables them to take advantage of discounts offered by local merchants.
This program is a way for our County to recognize and honor our Veterans for the service and sacrifices they have made. Involvement in the program will also be beneficial to businesses that will realize increased traffic and sales. Participating Merchants will complete a Merchant’s Discount Application with the County Clerk’s Office indicating their discount offered to participating Veterans and they will receive a participation poster for display at their place of business.
